LAILEC 2024

Ethical Innovation Lab: putting responsible AI at the heart of your organisation - build your ethical innovation policy block-by-block

07.06.2024 — 09:00‐16:00

In addition to legal challenges, the uptake of AI systems can pose extra challenges for organisations and society at large. These can have to do with bias, change management, transparency of systems, changing job responsibilities or job losses, amongst others. How can organisations prepare for such challenges and go beyond a single ‘ethical check’ of systems and deal with such challenges on an organisational level?

In this session, we will explore and apply the ALLY framework developed by the Knowledge Centre Data & Society and FARI, the Brussels AI centre for common good. This organisational policy builder consists of a number of ‘building blocks’ or actions you can take in four areas of your organisation:

  • Governance & values
  • Methods & processes
  • Culture & skills
  • Communication & involvement

These four areas and accompanying building blocks serve as a starting point to develop an internal policy to structurally deal with the societal impact of AI innovations.

In this session, we will explain to logic behind the policy builder and give you a hands-on experience of how you can use the policy builder in practice.
